The Less Obvious Relationship Milestones You Should Celebrate

Some relationship milestones are pretty commonplace. Your first date, your first kiss, the first time you’re intimate with each other, etc. However, some milestones are way less obvious, despite the clear level of trust and closeness they show for the both of you. Check out a little list of such moments below and think about celebrating them in your future.

Attending an Event Together

Bringing your partner along to an event like a wedding or a funeral is a very good sign. This is also milestone worthy if you’re off to a work event. If you want to be with your partner in a professional setting, it’s clear you see a future with them. You want your colleagues to get to know them, even if you work with some well known gossips who like to pick apart everything!

First Night Apart

This might not sound like a good milestone, or something you’re willing to celebrate, but it’s something to think about in regards to the way your relationship is coming along. If you’ve never spent a night apart since moving in together and/or getting married, your first time sleeping in separate locations is going to be hard.

The way you handle it will be significant. Obviously you’re going to miss each other, but if you’re able to still feel independent AND you’re happy to give each other your time, take it as a very good sign for your future.

Sitting in Comfortable Silence

Do you feel the need to fill the silence when the conversation drops, even when you’re at home together? This can be a sign you’re still feeling peer pressure, even when it’s just the two of you in a private setting.

However, if you’re able to sit in comfortable silence with one another and simply bask in each other’s presence, you’re on a very good footing. Even on a night in when you’re purposely trying to enjoy each other’s company, that sense of comfortable silence should mean a lot.

Talking About a Breakup

If you can talk about a potential breakup without feeling like you’re betraying your relationship, it’s actually a good thing. And you do need to have this meaningful talk, just in case you ever need to look into divorce laws adultery and have more serious conversations around this topic.

For now, just being able to broach the subject without things getting dramatic or feeling like you’re going to cry is all you need. It means you have a deep sense of trust in each other, and you’re willing to be head smart and responsible about the future. Celebrate this.

Some relationship milestones are less obvious than others. Keep this in mind whenever you feel insecure about your partner’s feelings, or like you’re feeling unusually distant. Are you really, or have things simply changed to suit the two of you better? And remember, if you ever feel like there’s a problem, speak up and talk about it with each other.

Friends, how do you celebrate the less obvious milestones in your own relationships? Leave your thoughts below.
