Books. Gifts that are always included on my family’s 4-gift Christmas list each holiday season. Items that I like to pick up early in the fall to stash in my gift-giving drawer at home. Which is why I’m excited to bring you a series of books that’s an entertaining as they are educational and intentional in design. From one of my favorite companies, National Geographic.
A company that is known not only for their commitment to environmental, social, and anthropological efficacy but learning, and fun, too!
When it comes to kids books, I’m not quite sure who loves them more in my home. Since childhood, I’ve been a huge animal lover, especially when it comes to cute, fuzzy baby animals and my family is no exception. My family is also currently are at the age where they love learning about baby animals as well.
I first checked out the Weird But True 10 by National Geographic Kids. This funny, factual, and fun book full of 350 surprising and amazing facts of a full range of kid-centric topics including science, space, weather, geography, food, pop culture, this book is sure to keep your kids attention for days to come! This title is affordably priced at under $7.00!
I also received the National Geographic Kids 2019 Almanac, the most popular kid’s Almanac, full of awesome scientific, engineering, and robotics facts, I knew this would be both a great read for early 2019 and a great gift for the holiday season too!
Initially, I was impressed with the overall size of the book as well as. But its feature sections are not to be missed. With unit and chapter themes from the 19 cutest animals to 19 amazing historical facts about Vikings and much more.
I enjoyed thumbing through the book even before passing it down to the kiddos! Check out the beautiful cover of this book- vivid, glossy, and attention-grabbing, for sure. I can also see this being a great go-to resource for students and teachers working with Robotics, STEM, Project Lead the Way, and Computer Discovery coursework as well.
What’s even better? Your kiddos at home and in the classroom are invited to participate in the Lions Forever Almanac Challenge for a chance to win a $500 gift card to host a lion conservation party at home from National Geographic Kids! To enter, click here!

Available to purchase wherever books are sold, including traditional bookstores like Barnes & Noble and Books-a-Million, as well as Target, Costco, Walmart, and Amazon.com. Perfect keepsake gift for families, new parents, libraries, grandparents, or moms-to-be.
I was also given the opportunity to check out the National Geographic Kids Explorer Academy: The Nebula Secret novel. A series that engages kids on so many levels. Including a compelling, yet easy-to-follow narrative, code-breaking, puzzles, and a storyline that encourages observation and problem-solving.
What I liked best about this title is that is features diversity at its core, with kids from around the world and various cultures being represented in the text.
This fact-based fiction, inspired by the real-life adventures of real National Geographic explorers, is geared towards middle-graders (ages 8-12) and would make an awesome stocking stuffer this coming holiday season as well.
