This has been a year of change for me. From revamping my blog to starting a podcast with my good friend Melissa, there seem to a constant need for change at every corner. Which has caused me to be more mindful in the way I view two very important facets of my life, my spirituality, and politics.
As a new podcaster, I am always on the lookout for other podcasts that bring audiences together in a civil, concise way. Especially when it comes to politics. As more than ever, politics seems driven by decisiveness and rage. Conflicts that have caused friends to become strangers in pews every Sunday and loved ones at the dinner table to be akin to enemies. Couples with toxic political rants on social media and agenda-driven media stories becoming the new norm, it’s exhausting just trying to stay politically astute in America.,
Which is why I’ve been a long-time listener of Pantsuit Politics, a podcast that covers diverse views of pop culture, societal issues, faith, and politics each week. And when I saw that my favorite podcasters, Sarah Holland and Beth Silvers, have written a book about their podcasting experience in, I Think You’re Wrong (But I’m Listening): A Guide to Grace-Filled Political Conversation, I knew it was going on my to-be-read pile this season!
This beautifully designed hardcover book speaks to the heart of the American spirit. Where people from opposing political perspectives truly can have grace-filled conversations with one another. By putting relationships above partisanship. Understanding and commonality above arguments.
In I think you’re wrong, the content is divided by recent topics and modern political dialogue. It also peppers in faith into each conversation. Allowing the reader to feel less like a reader and more a friend privy to a long, overdue conversation amongst peers and would make an excellent gift for all the politics in your life this season.
I intend to give copies of these to all the political junkies I know this year. For any book that thoroughly addresses politics in such an uplifting manner is a must-read for everyone!
