Fall is a time of changing seasons, with shorter days, cooler temperatures, the everchanging color of leaves, and the thrill of the stadium’s crowd during a football game. It is a time to reflect on change in one’s life and to accept that change, much like a well-played game, is a part of our lives. The perfect time to see the true story of Coach Joe Kennedy and his fight for freedom in the new fall family film, Average Joe, in theaters on October 11!

Average Joe tells the true story of a high school football coach, Joseph Kennedy, played by Eric Close, recounting decades of life, via an interview, sharing his childhood, abandonment, and abuse. After the abandonment of his adoptive parents, Kennedy enlists in the Marines. Later, feeling far from God, Kennedy recalls an earlier conversation with a friend, leading him to face a choice that shapes the rest of his life.

Average Joe is a seasonal, heartfelt movie based on an inspiring true story. Shot in an interview style, Joseph, along with his wife, Denise, tells their story, breaking the fourth wall in a unique style that presents a balance of personal growth and personal testimony. Average Joe gives audiences the perspective of diligence, fortitude, and the great American pastime, football.

Despite the depicted scenes of child abuse, a boy’s bloody, bruised face, depictions of wartime fighting and explosions, various examples of domestic abuse, and the eluding to an instance of Joseph’s wife’s stroke, faith and perseverance prevail.

Average Joe is a powerful, seasonal drama sharing personal growth, family charity, and the game of football. Overall, this film leaves something for everyone in theatres this season.
