Please note: I received a 28-day food package from Personal Trainer Foods. All opinions are my own, thank you.

If you’re anything like me, then you know how hard it can be to lose weight. Compound this with how weight makes you feel. Especially when you are a woman. Which is why a year ago I began a journey to better health this time last year and have thus far lost over 80 pounds in the process. While this has been a great accomplishment, my journey to better health hasn’t been without its fair share of hitches. Namely the weight loss plateau I’ve faced this past season.

When I was selected to try out Personal Trainer Foods, a 28-day weight loss program that focuses on providing continued weight loss success through the consumption of precooked, frozen, no-filler foods without hidden sugars or carbs. Just the type of food program and meal plan strategy I knew I needed to try out to get me past my recent weight loss plateau.

Why I’m trying Personal Trainer Foods:

In full disclosure, I want to give you all a few personal details. I currently weigh 221 pounds; I am down 83 pounds from my highest weight of 304 pounds from this time a year ago. I am also a PCOS patient who must maintain a low-testosterone lifestyle. Which means I must maintain a low-sugar diet and a low-impact, low testosterone-inducing workout plan. To accomplish this, I workout from my home gym 3 days each week, for 30 minutes each session. I also walk my dogs twice a day for approximately 30 minutes each walk. I also speed walk each weekend with my husband and daughter for 1 hour at our local lake. This is my body’s current condition and health.

With that said, I am actually excited to share with you that I am starting a new journey for the next 4 Friday’s with Personal Trainer Foods. A documented journey to help me reset my weight loss goals, to push past my weight loss plateau, and get my health back on a new and better track. While this process will not be easy I’m hoping these subsequent posts will help give me a maintain sense of weight loss accountability I dearly need.  Now let’s delve a little more into Personal Trainer Foods!

What I received:

Personal Trainer Food

In each box of Personal Trainer Food, I received 28 days worth of pre-cooked and sorted meal options. Each box was well insulated and packaged in styrofoam, keeping the food frozen at delivery. Something worth noting, each box was huge. Folks, the boxes are ample. You receive quite a bit of food. In fact, I received enough food to fill my small deep freezer 3/4 of the way full!

Inside each box, there were three separate layers of prepackaged meals; a breakfast layer, a layer of vegetable medleys and mixes, and a layer of meat options.

On top of all three layers were a package of three sauces to accompany your meals, a garlic butter sauce, a bacon cheese variety, and a sriracha sauce. All three are tasty, especially the sriracha!

Each box also came with a packet of information, including a sheet of the different ways you can start your meal plan for the month, customer service information, and several promotional offers and coupons as well. You’ll also get a couple documents that include your guidelines to eating other foods, and a simple workout plan that consists of a combination of walking and pushups, that increase as you get further into the program.

When you start the program, you can choose your own food – or go with a quicker customer favorite route and pick out meals based on mix and match suggestions of others users. I chose the pick-your-own-meals path from the provided selections.

The First Week:
One of the warnings you’ll read in your introduction packet, in regards your first week into the program, is how your body will adjust to your sugar intake – or lake thereof. The sugar intake in this diet is almost non-existent. So you will need to adjust your activity accordingly. To accommodate these energy-deprived needs, I allowed myself two cups of black morning coffee or Earl Gray tea.

It was recommended by Personal Trainer Food, I started my meal plan with a fast. Which I completed this past Sunday. I stayed hydrated, and somewhat full, with lots of sparkling water, herbal tea, and bouts of time spent watching my husband enjoy food! As Monday approached, I wasn’t starving and was in a good frame of time to start my 28-day food plan.

I was also little weary of the fact that I was going to be eating pre-cooked, microwaved frozen food, but was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food you get from this program. The chicken, for example, is well prepared, and if you didn’t know any better you’d think it was hot off the pan with each meal! I have also enjoyed the ample amounts of vegetables you receive. Especially with a dash of the buttery sauce, you’re provided for a pleasant change of pace!

Something else to consider, your overall food intake. I’m normally a big eater, but knowing that this wasn’t about deprivation but rather smarter eating, which made this food plan easy to maintain as the first week went on. In addition to my meals, I’ve consumed sparkling water, before and after meals, and have helped myself to small snacks of homemade dehydrated carrot and zucchini chips as well. To date, I haven’t truly felt hungry between meals so far. Which for this foodie is a huge thing!

What I like about the program so far:

My favorite part of this program is that it isn’t focused on caloric intake. You don’t need to count calories, just eat until you’re satisfied. Which is something I love! Personal Trainer Food is a new favorite way of helping me to take care of myself.

An example of a few meals I’ve enjoyed so far have included:

  • Teriyaki Chicken and Norwegian Vegetable Medley
  • Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sticks and Summer Vegetable Medley
  • Zesty Gluten-Free Chicken Strips and Summer Italian Bean Medley
  • Grilled Chicken and Summer Green Beans

As you can see everyone, Personal Trainer Food has been amazing so far. I am also happy to report that this first week I have lost 7 pounds! Amazing to say the least. So that’s how my week has gone. I am happy and can’t wait to see what is to come the next 4 weeks. I’ll  be checking in each Friday to share with you how I’m fairing with this meal plan.  Also, follow me on Instagram as I’ll be sharing my meals daily for the rest of my 28-day program on my IG Stories and how I’m feeling each evening throughout the week.
