Calling all readers! Today finds us with another awesome book review, and this time Out of the Ruins | The Golden Gate Chronicles, Book 1, by Karen Barnett.
This book, is a simple love story set just before the earth-shattering 1906 San Francisco earthquakes. The novel surrounds Abby, a thoughtful, curious young woman, who finds her world turned upside down after the horrific events of the earthquake, and in its wake must seek to find both love and faith, in a world now unbenounced to her. The pinnacle of the story centers on Abby’s wish to help find a cure for her sister, only to find out that her prayers are answered in more than one way, by Dr. Robert King, a handsome, yet unknown experimental practitioner. As the pair team-up to work together toward a cure, Abby’s feelings for Robert become hopelessly entangled. Separated by the tragedy of the San Francisco earthquake, their love must then earnestly seek to survive their own circumstance in the face of this great tragedy.
