Hello again, savvy savers! Today finds us with another great book review, and this time I am reviewing Love, Skip, Jump: Start Living the Adventure of Yes, by Shelene Bryan.
To begin, this book centers on paths least traveled, by those who appear to have traveled paths well traversed. Author Shelene Bryan had it all – a wonderful husband, two great kids, a rewarding job, a dream home, and more. Then a friend saw the pictures on the refrigerator door of the two African kids Shelene’s family sponsors and she asked, “How do you know those kids are real?” That question changed Shelene’s life forever. In Love, Skip, Jump, Shelene shares how she loved being safe and comfortable. She had no desire to leave this country, but could not shake her inner convictions to travel abroad to Africa. The author believes that by saying no her her past life, she was instead saying yes to God, and by having done so she not only met the kids her family sponsors but opened herself up to the journey the Lord had been preparing for her, including founding the non-for-profit, Skip1.org, a charity that provides food and clean water to children in third world countries.
The book seeks to attest to several of the amazing paths that can open up in your life when you allow God to take the reins of your destiny. The book is a carpe diem, jump starting, jazz hands-influesed surge to the soul, and a must have for readers in the Christian genre! I definitely recommend it.
